Blogging Class

Millie and Willie encourage new bloggers!

Quote of the Day: If you wish to be a writer, write! Epictetus (Greek Philospher)

This is one of my favorite quotes, and quite fitting for this group of writers. They came to my blogging class with ideas to share and words to write and pictures to post. I can't wait to see what they produce! Of course, they have the same old fears that all artists experience. Do I have the time, the knowledge, the know-how? Who am I to write a blog on that? What about the exposure to the world? Am I ready for that. I say, Yes. If you feel the call to write and to share your work, get going. The world is waiting for your words of wisdom and to connect with you.

These creative people will be starting blogs about geneolgy, a rare disorder, a mother and son who wrote a book together about his struggles with cancer at a young age. We had a quilter, a photographer (actually many who love to take pictures and share them), one or two who are retired and want to share their story, and several authors who want to get their words and work out there for all of you fabulous readers.

I'll share their links as soon as they're ready, and you can have more blogs to read and follow and fellow artists/writers to support. I love this blogging community!

Thanks, "kids", for coming to my class. I learned so much from you, too. That we never stop learning and growing and wanting to explore more of what this world has to offer on and off-line.

Go. Create. Inspire!

A to Z Spotlight

Quote of the Day:  Let yourself be open and life will be easier. A spoon of salt in a glass of water makes the water undrinkable. A spoon of salt in a lake is almost unnoticed. Buddha

Today, I am being featured on the Blogging from A to Z Blog by Alex J. Cavanaugh.

The A to Z Blog Challenge happens in April. Bloggers are challenged to write a post a day in April, excluding Sundays, using each letter of the alphabet. In 2011, I used a word a day associated with the theatre, and my sister challenged me to use a name for each letter. I didn't quite make the name challenge, but came close. Alex asked me about my posts from the 2012 challenge.

If you are a blogger, or ever thought of blogging, I'd recommend doing the A to Z challenge. It's a great way to challenge yourself to write every day, enhance your writing skills, spark your creativity, and meet other bloggers. You gain followers really fast, and it's like a big blog party. My friends and family told me they liked it because they knew I'd have a new post every day. That made me feel good. Click over to the Blogging from A to Z blog to read my interview and find out what I might use for my theme in 2013. (I reserve the right to change my mind. However, after the interview, I started taking notes for my next theme.)

Go. Create. Inspire!
And, Happy Halloween!

Journaling Prompt:  What would you use for the A to Z challenge in 2013? Do you understand the salt part of the Buddha quote?

Reflections on A to Z Challenge 2012

Quote of the Day:  Alphabalance by Shel Silverstein
Balancing my ABCs
Takes from noon to half past three.
I don't have time to grab a T
Or even stop to take a P.

Loved it! I'll do it again next year. My favorite part of it was taking pictures of letters. I had most of the letter pictures before the challenge. I stuck with the same Quote of the Day which helped explain my theme. I had lists of words for the day and posted a few ahead of time. Knowing that events happen throughout the month that I would want to write about, especially reviews, I didn't work too far ahead. Overall, the writing and planning went well. Reading all those great blogs, though. Impossible. I discovered so many wonderful new blogs. I'll be spending the next month rediscovering them as I catch up.

Thank you for reading my posts. Some people, like my sisters and a few close friends, read every day and said they liked knowing I had a new post every day. That's what keeps the momentum alive. Thanks to new followers and all the fabulous comments. What a wild and wonderful ride I had in April. I'd like to use my A to Z photos and make a calendar from the 2012 challenge.
